Rules? Yes, we have rules!

Well, the 2026 season is finally here! Our first round of the season begins on Sunday, April 12th at PineCrest Country Club in Lansdale (PineCrest Country Club | Course Map). This will be our first visit to PineCrest since the 2023 season. That year, the course played really, really tough. Thirteen out of 31 FPGC members shot in the 100’s and not a single player scored in the 80’s. Glenn Bragg (A flight) and Mike Kilgarriff (C flight) were low gross on the day, each with a 90. Mike also led the way on the net side with a 56 (note: we never did get confirmation from Mike that he actually played the back nine).

Sunday’s weather is looking good right now. Accuweather is calling for a mix of clouds and sun with morning temps in the high 50’s to low 60’s with a real feel in the upper 60’s. Winds will be 6 MPH with gusts up to 10 MPH. You can follow the Accuweather forecast for Montgomeryville here ==> Montgomeryville Weather Forecast

So, with the season upon us, now would be a good time to complete a refresher of both Five Points Golf Club rules as well as common USGA rules that may come into play for you during one of your rounds this season.

The FPGC rules are designed to help keep up pace of play and to make the game a bit less frustrating where we can. They can be found here ==> FPGC Rules & Policies

Except for those rules that the FPGC has modified as “local rules”, we do generally follow standard USGA golf rules. Brief videos of common USGA rules can be found here ==> USGA Rules Videos

Knowing the rules helps with pace of play and, sometimes, helps you when faced with tricky situations. Or, you can also call out your playing partners!

Speaking of pace of play, now would also be a good time two minutes to refresh your memory of our FPGC Pace of Play Guidelines. We did much better last year with pace of play. You don’t want to be “that guy” for the 2026 season!
